Discovering the Power of Mobile Journalism

I am honored to have taken the MBN Mobile Journalism course, as it has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and skills in the field of mobile journalism. This hybrid workshop-style storytelling course has truly exceeded my expectations, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated.

The course curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of mobile news gathering in today's landscape while also helping us master the fundamentals of reporting and visual storytelling with mobile tools. The training was focused on creating quality journalism content for TV, web, social media, and mobile platforms, using the best practices for reporting and producing on deadline, shooting high-quality photos and video, collecting audio, and editing and publishing in real-time via social media and other platforms.

One of the highlights of the course was the hands-on experience we gained from the various projects assigned to us. We used mobile devices to research and report on news developments, shoot and edit photos, audio, and video on mobile devices, and use mobile gear and apps in the field to tell compelling visual stories. My project was a fantastic chance to gain experience that allowed us to put into practice what we had learned.

I appreciated the focus on understanding the evolving mobile news landscape, including the technology, ethical codes, and legal issues involved in mobile journalism. This helped me gain a deeper appreciation of mobile journalism's impact on the world and how important it is to approach it with a responsible and ethical mindset.

I am also grateful for the guidance of our instructor, Robb Montgomery. Robb is a filmmaker, journalism professor, and author of academic textbooks and diploma courses in mobile journalism. He has extensive field experience and provided valuable insights and advice throughout the course. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge from his practice, and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from such a knowledgeable and experienced instructor.

In conclusion, I am honored to have had the opportunity to participate in the Mobile Journalism course and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in journalism and storytelling. The knowledge and skills I gained will stay with me for a lifetime, and they will serve me well as I pursue my journalism career.
